“Let yourself be silently drawn by the strong pull of what you really love. It will not lead you astray.”
My dad wanted me to be a doctor. My teachers all said I was bright and was expected to do Great Things. The world said that women had been oppressed for centuries and that I had an obligation to Break Down Barriers. And secretly, all I really wanted was a happy home. So I “wasted” my college years by getting a degree in Home Economics instead of something important, like engineering or pre-med. For years, I was ashamed of wanting something so humble …until I discovered I was not alone and that other people wanted the same thing- a life of Joy. A life of organization and peace and healthy relationships and healthy meals. A life with meaning and comfort and color and laughter. And so The Verdant Home was born.
This blog is dedicated to the simple questions- How do I know when a chicken is done?- to the complex- How do I create a life with authenticity? I don’t have all the answers, but I am willing to ask the questions, tell the truth about my life, and hopefully, help others create a life verdant with what they really love. Your questions, observations and experiences are welcome!
With warm regards~
Kathryn
